SASKATOON – The Saskatchewan Liberal Party is inviting residents of the province to contribute their ideas to help shape the party’s platform.
Until March 31, 2019, any individual or organization can submit a policy resolution for consideration by party members at their 2019 Policy Convention on May 4 in Regina.
“We felt that is was important to open up the political policy process to allow all Saskatchewan people to have an opportunity to share their vision for the future of our province and to contribute policy on issues they are passionate or knowledgeable about,” said Naveed Anwar, Saskatchewan Liberal Leader, “By expanding the policy process beyond the relatively small number of people who are actively involved in political parties today, we hope to be able to create a strong platform that is truly reflective of what matters most to folks across the province.”
The party is also seeking out policy contributions from groups or non-partisan organizations with expertise in different policy areas, who wouldn’t traditionally participate in such a process. While attendance and voting on resolutions at the policy convention will only be open to Saskatchewan Liberal Party members, the policy submission process is open to any individual or organization in Saskatchewan, without any requirement to join or support the party. There is no fee to join the Saskatchewan Liberals as a member.
Those interested in participating can visit saskliberals.ca/convention2019 to download a Policy Resolution Guide, which contains information on how to prepare, submit, and champion a resolution. Completed resolutions can then be submitted using the online policy submission form.
