Chris Chovin was raised around the rural farming community of Vanscoy, Saskatchewan and is currently living in the riding of Saskatoon Churchill-Wildwood where he has resided for 12 years. His rural upbringing led him to develop an understanding and strong passion for Saskatchewan’s agricultural, mining and other natural resources which are major drivers for the province’s economy.
After graduating high school, Chris moved to Moose Jaw to study Instrumentation Engineering Technology and worked in the industrial and commercial trades. Later, he transferred to the University of Saskatchewan where he has recently completed his Bachelor of Commerce at the Edwards School of Business in December 2015.
Chris has a diverse work and leadership background as a market researcher with the Investment Attraction Unit of the Saskatchewan Ministry of the Economy, a marketing manager position with Combine World Inc., Co-chair of the National Mining Competition, and a cost-optimization analyst position with Shell Canada Ltd.
Chris has also been very active within the Saskatchewan communities by volunteering, fundraising and participating in organizations such as Relay for Life, MS Bike Tour, and Enactus. Through a university course, Chris gained an understanding of board-level activities, governance and leadership as a non-voting, volunteer board member for the Saskatchewan Environmental Society.
His work experience, community service and passion for following issues important to residents of Saskatchewan has convinced him that political change is urgently needed. Chris said, “I strongly believe that by utilizing my diverse experience and compassion for my home province, I can represent the constituency of Saskatoon Churchill Wildwood with determination, integrity, and empathy.”
