REGINA, SK – Saskatchewan Liberal leader Jeff Walters is calling on Premier Scott Moe to create an independent review to look at his government’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“As we enter the sixth wave of COVID, it is imperative to learn the strengths and weaknesses of the Moe government’s response to the pandemic so far,” said Walters. “Independent reviews are nothing to be feared. It’s how we become better prepared for the future.”
The Premier has shot down the idea in Question Period. However, Walters points out that these types of reviews are what allow structures, such as our healthcare system, to become more efficient. Previous mistakes can be avoided and new ways to fight the virus can be discovered. Other provinces, such as British Columbia, have already started their own independent reviews.
“We all know that the virus is spreading like wildfire. The Premier’s strategy of flying blind is simply not working. The only thing it is effective at doing is keeping the public uninformed. That is less a strategy than a surrender.”
